New Course: Introducing Buddhist Sanskrit

GOOD NEWS for those interested in learning Buddhist Sanskrit!

This introductory course is meant for the ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS. Students will be introduced to the Sanskrit Devanagari alphabets and basic Sanskrit grammar required for reading simple Buddhist passages.

The focus of this course will be to familiarize students with the basic Buddhist terminologies and simple sentences in the Buddhist Sanskrit Sūtras. At the end of the course, students are expected to be able to read simple Sanskrit passages.

Timetable for 2016 Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies Programme

Herewith is the timetable for the 2016 Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies (MA) Programme. Please note the following new courses are offered this year:
• Buddhist Economics Philosophy
• Buddhist Aesthetic Concepts: Analysis and Evaluation
• Buddhalogical Developments: A Study based on pre‑Mahāyāna Buddhist Literature
• Buddhist Psychotherapy

The deadline for application for the 2016 MA Programme is 29 February 2016. Occasional students are welcome.

ELEMENTARY PĀLI CLASS INVITES ENROLMENT

The Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong will run an Elementary Pāli course from 22 February to 30 May 2016 (every Monday) from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

This is a course designed for the ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS. Classes will be conducted in English. You will learn basic Pāli grammar and be guided in understanding simple Pāli texts.  At the end of the course, you will be able to read simple Pāli Buddhist texts.

Master of Arts Degree in Buddhist Studies for 2016 Academic Year Now Open for Enrolment

The Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies (MA) programme conducted at the Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong is affiliated with the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies (PGIPBS), University of Kelaniya (Sri Lanka), internationally renowned for Buddhist Studies. All awards of the courses offered by PGIPBS are conferred by the University of Kelaniya.

Postgraduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies for 2016 Academic Year Now Open for Enrolment

The Postgraduate Diploma in Buddhist Studies programme conducted at the Buddha-Dharma Centre of Hong Kong is affiliated with the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies (PGIPBS), University of Kelaniya (Sri Lanka), internationally renowned for Buddhist Studies. All awards of the courses offered by PGIPBS are conferred by the University of Kelaniya. The programme aims to train the participants systematically and scholarly in the Buddha-dharma from a non-sectarian perspective.
